Personal
Safety
Kenya society
is less affluent than Western society and it is best never to
make an ostentatious show of wealth. Though great efforts have
been made by the authorities there are still, like in any country
in the world, some areas in Nairobi and Mombasa best avoided at
night. It is unwise to carry large amounts of cash around with
you when exploring Nairobi or Mombasa or any town. It would also
be prudent to leave any expensive items of jewellery at home.
The Kenya police are generally friendly and helpful to tourists.
